Frequently asked questions

  • Q:How warm are Fly ’n Dry waders?
  • A:Neoprene has extremely high heat-retaining qualities. It provides insulation from the heat and cold. There is nothing available that is warmer than neoprene. (Thermal underwear can also be worn for extra warmth.)
  • Q:Are Fly ’n Dry waders comfortable?
  • A:Extremely so. Neoprene will stretch with you. Plastic does not.
  • Q:How durable are Fly ’n Dry waders?
  • A:Neoprene is extremely flexible and also very tough. Seams are double-sealed and there is reinforcing in the right areas.
  • Q:Why is Olive Mesh more expensive?
  • A:The exterior material costs more to print. Olive Mesh is six times more abrasive resistant.
  • Q:How strong are the boots?
  • A:The Blundstone gumboots and the Hard Sole Extra-Grip Neoprene Boots are very long-wearing. They are as non-slip as possible and have excellent ankle support.
  • Q:Do they leak?
  • A:No. Neoprene consists of chemically blown high-density rubber which has millions of tiny separate air bubbles. These create warmth, flexibility and a complete seal. You are totally dry from your toes to your chest.
  • Q:Are they repairable?
  • A:Yes. If a tear occurs, return them to the factory and they will be repaired.
  • Q:Can they be custom-made?
  • A:Yes. As manufacturers we have the facility to custom-make to your requirements. See our Order Form. (Custom-made does incur extra cost.)
  • Q:Is there more flotation in neoprene?
  • A:Yes.
  • Q:Is neoprene buoyant?
  • A:Yes, and this makes the waders safer.
  • Q:Do Hard Sole Extra-Grip Neoprene Boots last as long as gumboots?
  • A:No, but they are much lighter, more comfortable and warmer.
  • Q:What is K-Tough?
  • A:K-Tough is a protective urethane coating which is used on the knees of all waders for added protection and strength. These are highly recommended for the aquaculture industry.
  • Q:Do you make thigh waders?
  • A:Yes. Thigh waders are popular for summer use or for stream fishing.
  • Q:What are Hot Sox?
  • A:Hot Sox are made from neoprene. They are recommended to be worn inside the gumboot for extra warmth.
